About the Scouts in 2019
We are Ellicottville-Great Valley Boy Scout Troop 652. We are sponsored by the Great Valley Fire Department and a member of the Allegheny-Highlands Council.
Each year we raise money to support our program activities. In 2017 we attended the Summit Bechtel Reserve, a high adventure camp in West Virginia, where the Boy Scout Jamboree is held. In 2018 we went to Acadia National Park in Maine. While there, the boys hiked, kayaked, paddle boarded, went on a fishing charter. They earned their Kayaking Merit Badge and Paddleboard Award. In May of this year the troop visited Washington DC and visited several Memorials, the Holocaust Museum, and Air and Space Museum. The troop finished up their Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge. This summer we are planning a trip to the Shenandoah National Park in West Virginia to hike a portion of the Appalachian Trail and go whitewater rafting.
Some of our community service activities include putting flags in the cemeteries before Memorial Day, and a food drive in November to support the Ellicottville Food Pantry. We also help the Great Vally Fire Department with their Annual Regatta.
Currently we have a Scout who is working on his Eagle Project. His project includes planting trees and building benches for the Ellicottville Village Park and Great Valley Fireman’s Park.
We appreciate the opportunity to be a part of the 4th Annual Paddle Festival.
