Scouts Honor a Fallen Soldier by wearing a Neckerchief with the soldiers name.
Corporal Jason L. Dunham
We've honored Jason Dunham, since 2009, by wearing a neckerchief with his name on it. Jason grew up in Scio, NY.
While Jason Dunham and his squad were investigating vehicles on April 14, 2004, he encountered a man with a grenade. When the man dropped the grenade Jason took action to save the rest of his men throwing himself on the grenade, attempting to use his helmet to shield himself and others from the explosion. Dunham, the insurgent, and two other Marines nearby were all wounded by grenade fragments. Jason died over a week later due to the injuries.
